David is a 17-year veteran of the venture capital business.  He is the Founder and Managing General Partner of Crescendo Ventures, a Palo Alto-based venture capital firm with more than $1 billion under management.  David has been ranked on the Forbes Midas list (8th among VCs in 2005).   During his 17 years in the venture capital industry, David has been active in the formation and development of nearly 50 technology companies with 17 IPOs and a dozen trade-sales.  Some of the companies with which David is currently involved include Compellent, eSilicon, Envivio, Pure Digital, and QuikCycle.

David is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, a member of the board of the National Venture Capital Associations (NVCA) and a regular participant and panelist at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos.

David is passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship.  He is the Entrepreneur-Society Chair for the Bay Area for the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship.  At the NVCA, where David has been a board member since 2005, he currently serves as the Chairman of Government Affairs Committee and as a member of the team leading the MAGNET initiative. MAGNET (Maximizing America’s Growth for our Nation’s Entrepreneurs and Technologists) is a broad based effort on behalf of the venture industry to improve: 1) education; 2) immigration; 3) government investment in R&D; and 4) capital markets.

David lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and three children.
